Mylor mytri is full!

If you were still thinking about entering the 2009 Mylor triathlon, aka the Mytri, then here is some news from the Organiser:

That’s it we are full to the brim if I take any more we’ll all be falling off the quay!

But don’t worry, there are still plenty more events listed in the tri-cornwall calendar for 2009, but be warned, they’re filling fast! And don’t forget to drop back and vote in the tri-cornwall post event polls, and add your views.

Mevagissey triathlon 2009

Mevagissey will stage its annual triathlon next Wednesday, July 1, at 7pm. The race is held during the village’s Feast Week and sees the triathletes start with a swim across the outer harbour. Emerging out of the water into the large crowds next to the Harbour Office, where they are cheered on Tour de France-style, they then run to the doctor’s surgery where their bikes are waiting for the longest and toughest stage – an uphill ride via Valley Road of about 1.5 miles to the village’s primary school.

There, there is another transition area, where triathletes dismount their
bikes and run the half-mile descent back to the centre of Mevagissey where they will do a circuit around the village shops before finishing on the harbour.

Entry forms are available from the Post Office in St George’s Square, with entries ideally in by June 28. Experienced triathletes take around 10-15 minutes, so compared to most triathlons this is a very short event and therefore ideal for novices.

It will take a talented triathlete to win the race, though, as Mevagissey
resident Tobias Savage will be aiming for his 12th consecutive victory. The 29-year-old first won the race as a teenager wearing baggy surf shorts and using an old 10-speed Raleigh and he has been unbeaten ever since, even winning the 2008 event despite being sent the wrong way near the finish!

This year, local shops and businesses have also been invited to enter teams – with each team having a swimmer, cyclist and runner – although the swimmer must be over 18 years old.

Mylor triathlon 2009 update…

just an update on entries. As from this morning I have 46 (max being 80). historically we get a bit of a rush towards this last 4 weeks and usually I’m up to 20 by now, you can guess whats going to happen. So to all interested get those forms in to avoid disappointment.

We have also worked out how to run a team event without too much hassle so teams are welcomed at £25,just state on the entry form all of your names etc and put Team on it somewhere. Look forward to seeing every one again and for those who know what i’m talking about dont forget to slow down on those corners!!!

Hayle Standard – the last one!

Just to let everyone know that there are still spaces left for the last ever Hayle Standard (the sprint may stay in Hayle, and we are working with the Town Council to make this happen).

The standard will possibly be run from Marazion next year as the swim is becoming increasingly more difficult in the Copperhouse Pool, as there are certain individuals who want to ban any water sports in the pool full stop.  We are however, working hard to keep the sprint running for next year as the depth in the pool is not so difficult to manage as the swim is shorter.

In order to get the correct number of t-shirts for the standard – WE NEED YOUR ENTRIES PLEASE!!!!  We have a deadline on ordering and we want everyone to get the right size especially as we are ordering the lovely ladies ones again.

Entries are available on tri-cornwall and www.hayletri.co.uk

Thanks,

Kaz.
